3d camera, flashback
Wired blog has a post about a new tri-lens 3d camera. Um, didnt they have 2 lens versions that shot 3d? You still cant see behind the objects i would assume. Though, this does seem like the perfect camera for this guy: threeeyedgreenalien.jpg

Google Cellphone

March 09, 2007 by: dave
Is it gonna be in Beta for 5 years? Since everything else from google tends to be in perpetual beta, I wonder how this will go. If they really are doing a cell phone, whats the catch. currently the search engine is broken, and frankly has been for months. When you can do a search for viagra and a personal EDU webpage ranks number 5, something is wrong. obviously the search engine spammers are doing something right, and google is lagging. It understandable though, the algo must be so complicated its starting trip over its own feet. Dial number, "i see your dialing your girlfriend, for viagra, press1, for penis pumps, press2..." Kill me now.

Call for Tougher Media Scrutiny of Alternative Vehicles

March 09, 2007 by: dave
Tesla, the car company not the band or crazy electro-scientist guy, has called for the media to stop being a bunch of pansies about alternative fuel vehicles. The Tesla Roadster makes the EV1 look like a clown car. Yet the media has treated it like a toy.

Carbon Offsets and Carbon Credits

March 09, 2007 by: dave
I don't want to sandbag something that could help. but I'm not sure I get the point. Ok i do now. You feel guilty for your excessive carbon output. So you buy credits. Those credits then are used to pay for research/businesses/things that reduce or sequester carbon emissions. Doesn't this seem like a cop-out? I realize that expecting the average person to change their lifestyle, even the slightest bit, is a stretch, since after all we can't even seem to stop eating like shit, which directly and immediately affects us. Carbon is a longer term problem, which might not even affect some people because they will die before then. Of course something is better than nothing, usually, but i wonder if its just distracting away from the real problems and solutions?

Mountain Bikers get Smacked Down

March 09, 2007 by: dave
A small team of Mountain Bikers who have embarked on a pretty impressive trek, riding from the article circle in North America, all the way down to the southern tip of South America. First off, wow, that's freaking impressive.
