I saw a Campagna T-Rex (car/motorcycle) in Phoenix

I know the Campagna T-Rex has been around since the early 90′s apparently, but really, i dont know how long they been in the US. I have never seen one before until yesterday.

Unfortunatly my photo skillz arent all they should be while driving in traffic at 50mph taking a blind photo with my cellphone camera… actually not bad for not looking. Though the guy doesn’t look happy, lol.

Anyway, its actually a 2 seater motorcycle technically. At least thats how the US apparently categorized it. I personally think its a bit over the top, but hey, to each his own. But now that I have seen it, and know its been around for a while, I am kinda baffled as to why I haven’t seen this before in Scottsdale, AZ and around. Its sunny enough, and nice enough so much of the year, that i’m confused. I drive a convertible and have the top down probably 70% of the year.

Anyway, this guy was hauling ass on the highway, but i caught up because he happened to get off at the same exit as me. He got tied up in the lights, so I caught up, but when i got to him we were going about 50 so driving was primary, photo and looking, not so much. This thing is obviously really lightweight (900lbs LOL) due to the lack of doors and such. I wonder though if it is prone to oversteering due to the single rear wheel and its being rear wheel drive.

Here are the specs:

  • Acceleration 0-60mph: 4.1 seconds
  • Top speed: 150 mph
  • Width: 78 in(1981 mm)
  • Length: 138 in (3500 mm)
  • Height: 42 in (1067 mm)
  • Dry Weight: 900 lb (410 kg)
  • Engine: 1164 cc inline 4 cylinder, DOHC
  • Steering: Rack and pinion
  • Front Tires: 205/45/ZR16
  • Rear Tire: 285/40/ZR17
  • Lateral Acceleration: 1.9 g

Anyway, i thought it was kinda cool, not my taste, but none-the-less, cool to see other car styles on the road.
