If you have ever signed up for truecredit.com, you probably somehow got screwed into a monthly subscription, which you probably didn't actually want. My usual rule is to not purchase a service that doesn't have an obvious way to cancel. Truecredit.com provides 1 and only 1 way to cancel. You have to call them, listen to some 6 buck an hour phone monkey that hard sells you reasons to stay. And from what I have read elsewhere, that they don't even cancel the service a lot of the time.
Well I called and the hard sell started, so I hung up and figured out my own solution... This is a credit monitoring service, and guess what? They don't even understand how credit cards work. lol.
If you want to cancel your service, without talking to customer service, you have two choices. Change your credit card number to non-used CCnumber, such as:
Visa: 4111111111111111
Mastercard: 5500000000000004
American Express: 340000000000009
I think another option is to change the exp date of your card to something in the past. Though i didnt try it, I am assuming this will work as well. But really, just changing your CC number to the test numbers above will prevent them from charging you, and you can consider your service canceled ![]()
