If you remember the hokey "hologram" on CNN from election day coverage, you will of course be very hesitant to believe anything from CNN can be actually cool, instead of just stupid. However, I think they may have come up with an idea that could remedy the big fail from that day. They are asking people at the inaguration to send in their photos, and then Photosynth will be used to stitch all the photos together to create a "3d" browseable scene. Photosynth is a Microsoft product that can stitch multiple photos together into a kind of multidimensional, click-here-to-go-here, kind of photo. Neat.
