What i found was that domains that begin with XN-- are unbuyable. Seriously, go try to register one, xn-98hf082hfq98f.com, you cant. but you can if you go to www.now.net.cn and learn to read chinese. You can see a few of them easily in google by doing a inurl search. I don't know if this is actually the same thing, or if this was china trying to hurry up and make a non-ascii system for themselves. but regardless, its related in my book.
