Mac OS X 10.5.3 syncs Google Contacts with iPhone

Why is it not listed in the release notes here? Aside from that, this is going to make a lot of mac folks very happy, but I am still hoping for when apple releases the API, that google will release a native iPhone sync application, since they have stated that they will have native apps ready on launch day. That would be the simplest and most loved of any app they could offer i think. Also, although this is only supposed to work if you have an iPhone (which is bizarre), Lifehacker has a post on how to enable the google sync without an iPhone.
