Steve Jobs Health. My Business or Not?

Steve Jobs Health. My Business or Not?

Since the WWDC keynote, there has been a bit of chatter about Steve Jobs health. He looks thin, old, etc. It's not like he was portly to begin with, so frankly a small amount of weight loss probably is gonna look pretty significant. I on the other hand could lose 10 pounds and look exactly the same...

But the question is privacy. Do we have a right to know the health of Steve Jobs? Use the President as an example of an extreme. I do have the right to know my President's state of health, or the potential President's state of health. It is ridiculous that any President or candidate would claim that I have no right. I am voting for you, and following you, I need to know that you are not hopped up on drugs, or dying and no longer give a crap about anything.

On the other end, would be a regular person. I have no right to know the health of that person, baring a few small exceptions, such as, I am about to have sex with them, or get blood from them, or share heroin needles with them. I have no right otherwise to demand to know their health status.

But, Steve Jobs is a bit different. Shareholders place the welfare of their bankrolls in his hands. Yes, in HIS hands, because he has said so in so many words. Steve Jobs comes just short of saying that he IS APPLE and that without him the company would be shit. Well frankly, whether its true or not is irrelevant. What is relevant is that he feels that he is so important to the workings of the company, that if he was gone, the company would shrivel up and die. That, automatically makes it my business to know anything at all that I want to know about Steve Jobs that can even remotely be related to the welfare of Apple, since after all, I have shares in Apple.

I don't need to know intimate details. But I think that I do have the right to know the basics. Are you sick, and what do you have if you are?

Normally I would have thought that it is none of anyone's business, but his. However, because of his own claims of his importance to the future of Apple, and as a result, my invested money, my mind has changed. None of this would matter if he just had said, I am important to Apple, but there are a few others who could do this job well if need be.

meh, my two cents on subject that everyone else seems to be chiming in on.
